Hi folks,
I'm starting a blog for the site as a way to clear up questions we get asked, post event deadlines, details, and cut-off dates, introduce new fun events coming up, etc.
Here's your opening FAQ post ;)
Q: WHAT AGES ARE THESE EVENTS FOR?
A: Knick Events hosts events that appeal to a wide age range. Typically, it is left up to the parent's judgement whether a child is the "right" age for the event. When a child is 4, they will see the event on a different level than a 14 yr. old at that event. Often, there will be materials to enhance the experience for older kids, and different methods/materials provided for the youngest participators to make it more accessible. That said, there are some events that WILL have posted age restrictions. The most common is "ages 5+". This restriction is seen as necessary due to safety, because the materials are fragile, or because the project is simply too difficult for littler hands.
Q: WHAT DO I DO WITH MY YOUNGER KIDS/TODDLERS/BABY DURING THE EVENT?
A: Events are pretty family-oriented. If your very young children are not disrupting the event, you are more than welcome to stay in the room with them. If there are supplies that are not safe for them, you are, of course, expected to provide that extra level of supervision or leave the room with them. The events are held in libraries and outdoor locations that also have a lot to offer your littler ones.
Q: DO I STAY DURING THE EVENT?
A: You may stay in the room with your child if you like, and I encourage you to do so with the younger children. If you are confident that the child will not cause major disruption, you are also welcome to leave the room. Please do not leave the building/location unless the event leader is familiar with your child and you make it clear with them that you will be off-site (please also leave a cell phone number).
