The art club & Derby are both listed as 5+ years old & we will stick pretty closely to that. The breakdown for art club will be up mid to late next week (after vday & d&d events). It will be art from around the world with 2-3 projects per region/week. Each kid will be making & racing a car for derby (because I am quantifiably insane :). The complexity of the car will depend on the extent to which materials are donated to our cause.

the head count for Monday's upcoming party is 35 kids
Whether you're planning for cards or cupcakes, that amount should cover you. If you are more conservative, aim for 40 & you will have a little leeway ;) Mosaics registration has closed, Dangerous & Daring Club is full.
Valentine's Party registration is OPEN, but closing February 1st (or when we have 40 little folks signed up). Check out the March/April Events tab for upcoming fun as well. If you had a child participate in the Chinese New Year event, tell them Miss Knickerbocker thought that their parade dragon was wicked awesome! How much fun was that? If any of you have a great picture of our dragon, feel free to share it, so we can post to the website!
You can email pics to [email protected] Looking forward to seeing you all again soon Hope everyone has an excellent holiday! We'll see you in 2012!

Hi folks,
I'm starting a blog for the site as a way to clear up questions we get asked, post event deadlines, details, and cut-off dates, introduce new fun events coming up, etc. Here's your opening FAQ post ;) Q: WHAT AGES ARE THESE EVENTS FOR? A: Knick Events hosts events that appeal to a wide age range. Typically, it is left up to the parent's judgement whether a child is the "right" age for the event. When a child is 4, they will see the event on a different level than a 14 yr. old at that event. Often, there will be materials to enhance the experience for older kids, and different methods/materials provided for the youngest participators to make it more accessible. That said, there are some events that WILL have posted age restrictions. The most common is "ages 5+". This restriction is seen as necessary due to safety, because the materials are fragile, or because the project is simply too difficult for littler hands. Q: WHAT DO I DO WITH MY YOUNGER KIDS/TODDLERS/BABY DURING THE EVENT? A: Events are pretty family-oriented. If your very young children are not disrupting the event, you are more than welcome to stay in the room with them. If there are supplies that are not safe for them, you are, of course, expected to provide that extra level of supervision or leave the room with them. The events are held in libraries and outdoor locations that also have a lot to offer your littler ones. Q: DO I STAY DURING THE EVENT? A: You may stay in the room with your child if you like, and I encourage you to do so with the younger children. If you are confident that the child will not cause major disruption, you are also welcome to leave the room. Please do not leave the building/location unless the event leader is familiar with your child and you make it clear with them that you will be off-site (please also leave a cell phone number). |
Author: Alicia KnickerbockerI have homeschooled my boys for the last 5 years. Since accidentally becoming an hs group leader in 2005, I have been coordinating lots of local, educational events, focused on adding fun and social experiences to what parents already use at home. In September 2011, our family moved to South Lyon. Now our events are local for Livingston, Oakland, and Washtenaw counties. I am an energetic mama that wants to raise curious, life-long learners, carries a gourd for a purse, and loves to teach. Archives
